“Don’t tell me how educated you are, tell me how much you have travelled.”
This quote basically tells how travellers interact with each other. So where does it come from and what does it mean to me?

The quote was said by the prophet Muhammed. Whom I’m pretty sure needs no introduction, but I will give a brief one anyway!
Muhammed is an important figure (infact the central figure) in Islam and is often considered the ‘founder’ by non-Muslims. Muslim’s know him as the ‘Holy Prophet’ and believe him to be the last prophet sent to mankind from God. He united Arabia into a single Muslim entity. The Quran is believed to have been given to him by God and this, along with his teachings and practices, form the basis of Islamic religious belief.
What This Travel Quote Means To Me
Whenever travellers or backpackers meet one of the first things to be shared is where each other have travelled. No one asks about your schooling or job, we just want to know where we should go next! Have we missed anything?
I know I’m always looking for inspiration. It is not for judgemental reasons that the question of how many place you have been comes up, it is curiosity. Most people don’t have amazing stories from their educational life (or at least not many that can be related to by most other travellers). And some people may be embarrassed by their education (or lack of). But if you have travelled you gain a different type of education, that doesn’t come with a certificate. It’s an education of yourself, different cultures and experience.
How much you have travelled shapes who you are. Travelling gives you confidence, humility and life experience. These things are much more important than a piece of paper (I’m not saying don’t have an education though, if you have the opportunity and enjoy it, do it. I did and don’t regret it.) I know I learnt a lot more about myself and the world whilst travelling than i did in school!
