Backpacking by a girl called Nat

Natpacker is a travel site, a backpacking blog. All the content is written by me – Nat. I’ve been an on-and-off backpacker for a few years now. I got hooked when I went on a year out to travel, but recently the travelling has been when work allows. I’ve always wanted to record where I’ve been and what I’ve experienced, so that other people discover what there is to do in the world and hopefully be inspired to go there too! Want to know more about Me and My Backpack? Explore the site and you’ll learn all about me, my travels and backpacking.

This isn’t just a blog about me though. I’m here to give tips on backpacking too. Where to go, what to pack and the like. So if you’re new to travelling you can get some great tips. I can help you to plan your trip, figure out where to go, help you choose what to take with you as just some examples. If you’re a seasoned backpacker, feel free to comment and give your opinion if you agree or disagree. It’s all about interaction and your own opinions. For example, I see a pen knife as a must-have on a long trip, but have never seen the point of sleeping bag liners, which many backpackers swear by!

Want ideas of where to visit? I’ve got that too. I’ll tell you of places to stay, how to get there, where to eat and more. I’ll tell you of tours available, whether they charge or are free. You can see my experiences of some of these places in My Adventures section of the website. And once again, feel free to give me your opinions on these places. The best way to get ideas of where to go and what to do when you get there is by talking to other backpackers and now you can do that before you even start your trip!

What is Backpacking?

Backpacking is not just physically travelling, it’s a frame of mind. Once you backpack any holiday will never be the same again. Once you start, you can’t stop, you’ll cross one thing off your list and add at least three more wherever you go. That’s what I’ve found since my first big trip.

Backpacking and travelling needn’t cost the earth. You can travel and live cheaply, saving money for the important things. On big trips you may need to get seasonal work, but once you start changing things so that you save money you’ll be surprised how far your money can stretch. I believe that money should never be the one obstacle that stops you doing what you want to do, whether that’s travelling or not. There are simple steps you can take to save money.

I hope you enjoy my little rants, my little hints and tips, my ideas, my opinions and my adventures. I hope you feel inspired, learn something and feel like giving me your opinion too. And most importantly, have fun on your travels and don’t let anything get in your way.
