This quote is by Selma Ottilia Lovisa Lagerlö, who was a Swedish author. She was born in western Sweden in 1858. She was the fifth child out of six and was born with a hip injury.
As a child she was constantly writing poetry. She is best known for her children’s book ‘The Wonderful Adventures Of NIls’ (Nils Holgerssons underbara resa genom Sverige) and was the first female writer to win the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1909. She was awarded due to the ‘lofty idealism, vivid imagination and spiritual perception’ that can be seen in her writings.
What This Travel Quote Means To Me
After you get back from travelling, it all feels so strange. You don’t realise how strange it is to come home until you have been away for a time. It may feel great to begin with, but you soon start to feel strange not moving. Everyone forgets where you’ve been and what you’ve done and expect you to now be ‘normal’. If you’ve travelled that is unlikely to happen.
Travel changes everyone. It makes home feel different and weird. But you never realise just how different it’ll seem until you get back.
I’m not saying don’t travel because it’ll make home seem weird. Do travel, develop, but don’t be surprised when get home and it doesn’t feel quite ‘right’. It’s all part of the ‘itchy feet’ syndrome. But no matter how much you prepare yourself you won’t believe how strange home feels. And if you go again and again it isn’t any less stranger each time you come home!
